Welcome to the jungle, or as power duo Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce would have it, the Dolce & Gabbana jungle. The clothes of choice? Anything that screams “Jungle”. With that in mind, the designers changed the course of their usual themes and sent out models wearing safari-themed garments with utility boilersuits, jackets and shorts high on top of the list. The tropical themed venue had welcomed earlier that day avid show-goers and fashion connoisseurs, all of whom were expecting to be dazzled yet again with the duo’s ingenuity. And dazzled they were! Models in animal-printed coats reminded us all of the jungle’s most viscious predators, while others wearing a hoard of numbers with the famed hibiscus pattern paid homage to the jungle’s greeneries. Along came pieces bearing giraffe and zebra motifs, and others harboring the authenticity of tropical birds.
There were the occasional moniker Dolce & Gabbana black fit-form dresses accompanying the slew of loose tropical green gowns and mini dresses, alongside a series of Hawaiian shirts and crocodile leather garments – including skirts and shorts. The collection had plenty of scarf-like tops and brocade pantsuits with of course, printed tropical sceneries, while the other half of the show welcomed more poised items such as tasseled babydoll dresses in a beige-y color palette and fitted corsets pineapple-printed voile dresses.
