For his Couture Fall/Winter 2019-2020 collection, Elie Saab seemed to be navigating between a Chinese vibe and his typical – albeit over-the-top – feminine touch. The result? An exquisite mix of kimono sleeves embellished with contrasted satin trimmings, kimono-inspired vests and structured trousers and of course delicate embroideries.

Taking show-goers to his historical fantasy realm, the Lebanese designer seemed to be pulling on all the chords to create a new and assertive vibe, one that would be highlighted with asymmetrical cuts, obi belts, bouffant gowns and one-shouldered styles. It was all a mix-and-match between different cultures, coming together in one fabulous Elie Saab collection. Of course, there were the typical Elie Saab gowns that hugged the body like a glove and showed off the designer’s knack for fine embroideries and beadings. With colors skewing from dark hues such as black and red to lighter tones of pale blue and beige, the collection was as versatile as ever. The Elie Saab bride wore a light pink-y beige overzealous gown, paired with a matching kimono.
