CHANEL takes over Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées

With Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette opening up in what could only be described as one of the French Capital’s most iconic places, one could wonder what would make that shopping experience even more fabulous. Turns out we don’t need to wonder anymore, as CHANEL has unveiled a new store location in the high-end department store. And to celebrate the opening of Galeries Lafayette, the House is moving in to multiple spaces, both permanent and pop-up, focusing on its Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection and accessories.

Paris being a city that is so dear to CHANEL, the House has reimagined the theme of “Paris, the capital of fashion”, where visitors will rediscover the symbols of Paris through an actual promenade. Indeed, the path spans from the atrium to the top floor and is highlighted with two installations and six pop-up spaces that reinterpret the Parisian décors of CHANEL’s runway shows. And as a nod to the House’s Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear show, the beach theme is also rediscovered through very light sand and transparent Plexiglas steles and aqua weave through each one of these Parisian “postcards”.

Also, a majestic Eiffel Tower in pale gold metal is positioned in the center of the atrium on the ground floor and reaches the higher levels of the store, with twenty mannequins installed around it on the sand. Said “Parisiennes” mannequins are dressed in key silhouettes from the collection, from jackets and suits in tweed to jersey cycling shorts, cropped shirts in poplin cotton, black dresses in tulle and chiffon and so much more. To top it all off, a perfume pop-up presents LES EAUX DE CHANEL line, named Paris-Deauville, Paris-Biarritz and Paris-Venise.

Furthermore, six pop-up spaces take up the second floor and are visible through the atrium. Framed with brass-colored brushed steel, these islets can welcome visitors, inviting them to discover the store through the glass walls lightly curved and covered with transparent gold leaves. Decorated with frescoes evoking the Parisian places linked to the history of CHANEL’s runway shows, each stop includes wide-cut denim trousers, big pullovers, blouses, dresses and suits in tweed, swimsuits, hats and baseball caps, skateboards, bags and vanity cases as well as mules and costume jeweler – all of which are installed in harmony with the décor of each space. Two permanent spaces on the second floor accompany the above ephemeral installation, one dedicated to CHANEL shoes and the other to CHANEL hats. A true Parisian life, according to CHANEL. Could it be any more alluring?

The pop-up décors will be present until April 21st 2019, so hurry up and discover the House’s own interpretation of the Parisian Dolce Vita.
