You want to know what makes a Saint Laurent collection simply…Saint Laurent? Well, we’ve come to realize over the time that it’s the little things that count – think broad shoulders, exaggerated proportions, ruffles and big bows (to name a few).
With Anthony Vaccarello at the helm of the House, the collections were bound to channel the relentless spirit of the sophisticated, powerful and fearless woman. And so the runway show kicked off with a look that had power written all over it. In the real sense, that meant a power-shouldered wool coat and silk trousers. The pieces were that of a confident woman, struck with exaggerated proportions, fine tailoring and man-shouldered clothes. The collection actually called out to iconic Saint Laurent insignias, from new interpretations of the “Le smoking” jacket with silk lapels to the bow-infused mini-dresses and beaded jackets paired with micro-shorts. But the highlight of the show was probably the part where models sashayed their way onto the runway in UV light, wearing what could only be described as next season’s must-have fluorescent pieces – from the feathered dresses to the glowing pumps.
