Yes, it’s the third edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize and we can’t wait to reveal the finalists! Launched by LOEWE in 2016, this annual prize celebrates artistic excellence and newness in modern craftsmanship. With the number of submissions rising with every new edition to reach 44% this year, all we can say is that this event’s significance and influence is growing in creative communities on an international level.

A panel of 9 experts who gathered in Madrid for two days narrowed down a list of finalists from over 2,500 submissions by artists representing more than 100 countries – to finally hand the award to the winner who will pay a real tribute to LOEWE’s beginnings as a collective craft workshop in 1846.

‘Craft is the essence of LOEWE. As a house, we are about craft in the purest sense of the word. That is where our modernity lies, and it will always be relevant,’ says creative director Jonathan Anderson, who conceived this prize.

A jury composed of 11 leading figures from the world of design, architecture, journalism, criticism and museum curatorship – including winner of LFCP 2018 Jennifer Lee – will tap the winner, who will be announced on the 25th of June 2019 at the opening of the LFCP 2019 exhibition at Isamu Noguchi’s indoor stone garden ‘Heaven’ at the Sogetsu Kaikan in Tokyo.

Below is a look at the finalists and their artworks!
