It looked like the flora and the fauna were coming alive in a series of Haute Couture pieces at Tony Ward’s Couture Spring-Summer 2019 runway show. Indeed, on the very first day of the long-anticipated Paris Haute Couture Week, the Lebanese designer sure lived up to his unique and prosperous legacy. The designer sent out models shining in intricately embroidered gowns – some of which were dazzling with matching capes – alongside little chiffon dresses as a nod to elegant ballerinas, and it was just the perfect – lest we forget, flamboyant – note show-goers needed on this good-old Fashion Week Monday.

The pieces were surreal and while the first model kick-started the show in a sultry black strapless gown upholstered at the top with an elegant representation of butterfly wings, others paraded down the runway in asymmetrical satin dresses that ended with billowing tulle. The color palette moved from deep lilac tones to lighter notes – think pink shades and golden shimmery hues – and perfectly matched the enchanted vibe of the collection. One black sheer dress in particular seemed to trace the model’s body in all the perfect ways possible, while another grey body-sculpting playsuit was ravishingly matched with a flowing chiffon overskirt – definitely a red-carpet magnet.

And the Tony Ward bride? She was as elegant and serene as a bride can be: a feminine skinny gown that was rendered richer and more voluminous with a lavish overskirt.
