For its 15-year anniversary celebrations, Etihad Airways has partnered up with New York Fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg on the creation of a limited edition cabin crew scarves and ties, and it was all as part of an event at the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi co-hosted by Joan Smalls and Liv Tyler.
The scarves and ties were inspired by Yas Marina Circuit race track and Abu Dhabi and will be worn by the airline’s cabin crew throughout the month of November to celebrate the 10-year partnership between Etihad Airways and Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Three distinguished patterns for the various cabin crew positions on board were created and chosen to match the airlines colour pallet – from bold yellow for cabin managers, to purple for cabin crew and white for Food and Beverage Managers.
“Formula One is such an elegant event and I was thrilled to collaborate with Etihad Airways on this exciting project. The geometric pattern of the scarf was inspired by the Grand Prix racetrack and there are so many layers of meaning to the colors. Purple is the color of royalty and the orange is inspired by the sand because what is more beautiful than a sunset in the desert. I hope the cabin crews feel very proud to wear the scarf. It reflects everything Etihad is about – elegance and style,” said Diane Von Furstenberg.
Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, stated: “We are thrilled to be launching these limited-edition cabin crew scarves and ties in collaboration with world renowned fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg, here at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Not only are we launching it to commemorate 10 years of Formula 1 racing in the capital, but it also coincides with our 15-year anniversary and that’s what makes this collaboration so special to us.”
The UAE’s most influential figures and global fashion and lifestyle media graced the event with their presence, alongside fashion icons such as Joan Smalls and Liv Tyler. Smalls was selected to unveil the scarves via a model diary video and photo shoot, shot on location at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
