SECOND St: Lebanon’s first socially conscious unisex shirt brand

by Leonore Dicker

Do you like the idea of fashion for a cause? What about sharing shirts with your man?

SECOND St is a brand new socially conscious unisex shirt label, which has just hit the stores. Its founders, Sarah Hermez and Tracy Moussi, came up with its concept during their student years attending Parsons and living on 2nd street in NYC. Both ladies were fed up with the corporate face of fashion and wanted to offer designers a “SECOND St”, or alternative path, to the exclusive fashion industry.

As a result, the two creative designers have devised a partnership between SECOND St and Creative Space Beirut (a free school for fashion design founded by Sarah Hermez herself). Both organizations share the same (creative) space and 30 percent of SECOND St’s profits go to Create Space Beirut.

As for the unisex shirts, they are absolutely stunning. Some come long-sleeved, others mid-length. Some have a patchwork design, while others are printed. One thing is for sure, it’s that they come across as both hipster and classy, depending on your styling – which literally means that they’re targeted at everybody!

For the next couple of month, they’ll be available for purchase at the brand new exhibition space “Memory Lane”, located on Beirut’s Armenia Street.

Watch out for their next collection set to come out next spring.
