5 ways to keep your tights intact

by Leonore Dicker

Winter is on its way, which means that our legs will soon refuse to be bare.

While there’s nothing sexier than a woman in killer heels, sheer-black tights and a leather pencil skirt, there’s no bigger turn-off than ripped tights – and sadly, we’ve all be there.

Here are a few tips on how to keep yours intact!

Buy tights a size larger than you usually would
By getting a bigger pair, you will avoid over-stretching your tights, which will prevent them from ripping!

Put them in the freezer
We know what you’re thinking: tights are meant to keep your legs warm, not cool them down! But if you place them in a plastic bag in the freezer, the material will actual get firmer and consequently will be less likely to tear.

Hand wash and air dry
Gently hand-wash your tights with fine soap before hanging them out gently to dry. Avoid washing machines and dryers at all costs, as they’ll only cause damage.

Hair Spray
Once your tights are on, spray them with a bit of hairspray, as it’ll solidify the fiber while adding an extra layer of protection.

Control the damage
If you’ve already spotted a cut, then control the damage by applying a gentle coat of clear nail varnish over it. This will prevent the tear from ripping further.
