Just when you might be thinking it’s next to impossible to reinvent a print, along comes Etro, the iconic house of pattern and print with its Fall 2018 “FolkDeco” show and knocks that supposition right out of the water. The carpeted runway of folkloric style stripes in art deco greens and rusty red tones set the pace and those stripes were carried through into the lining of a hooded terracotta red boxy jacket styled with paisley print skirt and print top. If you looked closely models wore fine crafted silver disc necklaces set with turquoise and coloured stones. There was a bohemian nomadic feel to the fringed trim on floaty silk print dresses and patchwork coloured ponchos styled with little knit pom-pom beanies and knee-high leather boots. This was a true masterclass in the art of the fabric and the allure of the print.
