For a designer who always succeeds in mixing his oriental heritage with the European flair, Zuhair Murad’s Spring 2018 collection was seemingly a reflection of the Native American culture, only in a Couture kind of way.
In Murad’s world, that meant combining his irrevocable taste and expertise with a culture’s most simple traits. Think crystal beads on cut-out playsuits,
sheer white ponchos with occasional side fringes that translated into Couture gowns, patterns and schemas reminiscent of Native American heritage, pantsuits drowning in a see of fringes and mousseline gowns embellished with feathered shoulders. Along came the form-fitting lace gowns to remind us of the designer’s specialty in highlighting the female body and one eye-grabbing dress with a feathered bottom.
There was one opulent red gown that had Native American insignias, what with the embroidered cactus and more. The bridal gown was a story on its own, unveiling a glimpse of Zuhair Murad’s genius.
