After coming across a Serpent Bohème sautoir necklace with a flower pendant in the archives, Creative Director Claire Choisne was so enchanted to the point that she decided to bring it back to life with a contemporary twist, an interplay of wearing options, and new shapes. As a result, Boucheron introduced its latest collection, Serpent Bohème Vintage, with dramatic designs that accentuate the snakeskin-like texture of the gold, a defining feature of the collection. In total, this revisit gave life to fifteen designs, spanning jewelry and High Jewelry, some of which are supersized pieces that transform to be worn in different ways. In fact, the original links of the 1974 necklace have been reworked and streamlined, while colored stones give way to brilliant-cut diamonds in pear-shaped motifs.
Starting with 3 necklaces that remained true to the original, the collection unveiled one monochrome High Jewelry version in fully diamond-paved white gold. The other two retain the same dimensions as the 1974 necklace and are convertible into four other pieces to wear in different ways: a shorter necklace, a brooch of the detachable central motif, and a pair of bracelets that also join together to form a choker.
Next came a two-finger ring that opens out across the entire hand, and two other rings that channel Serpent Bohème codes pavé-set with diamonds underlining the collection’s aesthetic. And to complete the Serpent Bohème Vintage lineup, three pairs of earrings and a pendant come along. The hoop earrings come in a yellow gold and diamond version, or monochrome diamond.
Moving to the hero piece of the collection, the bracelet borrowed its floral motif from the original necklace and set it on a cuff of brushed gold that heightens the vintage feel.
Four other pieces were the fruit of Claire’s archive inspiration. They in turn bring the necklace to the present day with unparalleled creativity and outstanding craftsmanship. However, as if we weren’t dazzled enough, Boucheron unveils some other Serpent Bohème pieces this year in parallel with its Vintage line. We’re talking of a new style of ankle chain in two different designs, two jewelry watches, and a Solarité bracelet with the collection's signature drop shape in a repeating pattern around the wrist.
