For its debut at the 2024 Downtown Design in Dubai – the leading fair for contemporary design in the Middle East, de Gournay presented an immersive experience across three interconnected salons. These spaces featured the brand’s signature hand-embroidered and hand-painted wallcoverings, creating the ambiance of a private apartment. Editions, which highlights over 40 galleries, design studios and collectives, celebrates contemporary works in various categories, including ceramics, photography and design. As part of its showcase, de Gournay collaborated with renowned designers, including Lebanese designer Nada Debs, to create spaces that reflect the brand’s commitment to curated, fully realized interiors. A standout was a bespoke Majlis sofa, where Debs’ distinctive style seamlessly integrated with de Gournay’s colors and fabrics.
The brand also hosted two exclusive panel discussions. “Dialogue in Design - Where Heritage Meets Handcraft” featured Nada Debs in conversation with Hannah Cecil Gurney – de Gournay’s director, and Claud Cecil Gurney – de Gournay’s Founder, while “In Conversation: Craftsmanship and the Industry” brought together Anastasia Nysten and Rhea Younes, founder of Collective Y, to explore the evolving role of craftsmanship in modern design.
To further engage visitors, de Gournay’s in-house design team held live painting sessions, offering a firsthand look at the creation of its iconic designs. The event also impressed by the unveiling of "Dipping Rose," a new, nature-inspired wallcovering that exemplifies the brand's dedication to intricate, bespoke artistry.
