Vacheron Constantin Celebrates 20 Years of Patrimony

“A good design wasn’t created to be disposed of after a period of usage, it is designed around essentials to make it eternal.” – Ora ïto

On the 20th anniversary of its Patrimony collection, Vacheron Constantin celebrates with a twist and joins forces with “One of Not Many” talent Ora ïto to unveil a new limited-edition self-winding timepiece.

Staying true to the minimalistic aesthetics of the collection that find inspiration in the 1950s and in the era’s outstanding watchmaking calibres whose slenderness matched the beauty of their construction, the new Patrimony self-winding model carries the same rare aura of elegance that the collection has always been synonym with. Behind the apparent formal simplicity of the self-winding movement lies a high level of craftsmanship and behind its design, the worlds of Patrimony and Ora ïto merge. The face of the collection since 2019 as part of the "One of Not Many" campaign, the French designer is a longtime admirer of the Patrimony collection, a horological embodiment of his “Simplexity” concept – which combines two contradictory notions: simplicity and complexity.

Limited to 100 pieces, the new Patrimony self-winding model features a 40 mm yellow gold case framing a tone-on-tone gold-colored dial adorned with an infinite number of concentric circles catching the light and spreading like rippling wave echoes. As an astronomy enthusiast, Ora ïto explains that “this circular movement of light refers to the Baily Pearls, a spectacular phenomenon that accompanies an eclipse of the sun by the moon”. Paired with a burgundy calfskin strap, the vintage character of the watch can’t go unnoticed.
