Join Azyaamode backstage as we explore the makeup look that Peter Philips created for Dior’s Spring-Summer 2025 ready-to-wear show.
For the Spring-Summer 2025 Collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, has created the look of a modern-day Amazon. A bright, dewy skin, an intense gaze, natural lips and nails, and hair gathered in a low ponytail… find out what was the star element of the look and much more in this short interview!
Every show has its star product, what is the star this time?
For this makeup look, I used the Dior Forever Skin Glow as a base because it gives enough coverage while keeping the skin luminous. Under the spotlights, the skin is given the right amount of glow. In fact, the skin is the star element in this look and it kind of brings all this makeup look together, which makes the foundation a key product.
There is always a brief and style that you work on with Maria Grazia, what was the emphasis this time?
This time, the focus was to create the makeup look of an active and dynamic woman, on the move, who has just completed some physical activity. Her skin is bright and dewy, and her gaze is intense, highlighted by the remnants of a stroke of khôl liner.
How much before the show are you briefed about the collection to create the makeup look?
I got the first input about the collection about three weeks ago, and we were talking about doing red lips. Then one week before the show, we did the first fittings and a few days later, I got a call for change and we did. We also make sure to do the makeup look on different skin types to make sure it fits all.
Does the makeup affect the choice of hairstyle?
When we decided to go for a luminous skin, we thought at first that a wet hair look would be a great way to complement it then we decided to go for a dry texture to create contrast and it matched perfectly. As for the headbands, they added to the sporty feel of the collection.
What do we expect to see trending next summer?
In a way or another, the thick black liner drawn under the lower eyelid and then smudged to create a running effect could be a trend when taking this makeup to the street, and I would suggest to add a little bit of mascara for a stronger look.
