The brand's designs often play a crucial role in defining characters, setting a tone or contributing to the narrative's aesthetic. Through its collaborations, Prada continues to influence both the fashion and film industries, reinforcing its status as a symbol of luxury and sophistication. To trace these achievements, let us take you on a stroll through the brand’s appearances on the silver screen.

In the ‘American Psycho’ movie released in 2000, Christian Bale's character, Patrick Bateman, is portrayed as an image-obsessed investment banker who frequently name-drops luxury brands, including Prada. The film satirizes the excesses of 1980s consumer culture, with Prada representing the epitome of high fashion.

Next in 2006, came the movie entitled ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. Although not officially sponsored by the brand, this film is perhaps the most famous cinematic reference to Prada. Based on Lauren Weisberger's novel, it offers a fictionalized account of the fashion industry, with Prada being central to the plot. Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, embodies the high-powered fashion executive, often associated with the luxury and sophistication of brands like Prada, which significantly boosted Prada’s visibility in popular culture and cemented its status as an iconic luxury brand.

In 2009 and more specifically in the Italian film of ‘I Am Love’, Tilda Swinton’s character wears costumes exclusively designed by Prada and Jil Sander. The film, directed by Luca Guadagnino, used Prada’s minimalist and elegant designs to reflect the protagonist’s transformation throughout the story.

In 2013, Baz Luhrmann's ‘The Great Gatsby’ took Prada’s cinematic presence to a whole new level, as designer Miuccia Prada collaborated with costume designer Catherine Martin to create outfits for the movie. The costumes blended Prada’s contemporary designs with 1920s fashion, adding a modern twist to the period film. This collaboration highlighted Prada's ability to bridge past and present fashion eras.

Next came 2015’s ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ directed by Guy Ritchie, with Prada contributing to the movie’s wardrobe. Set in the 1960s, the film features sleek and stylish outfits, with the brand adding a contemporary edge to the retro look.

Last but not least, in 2018’s ‘Ocean’s 8’ starring Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett – to name a few, Prada provided several outfits for the ensemble cast. The film’s heist at the Met Gala was a perfect setting for Prada’s luxurious and stylish designs.
