Associated with the moon, water, wisdom, purity and love, pearls are serene in their beauty and they have proven so for many diverse cultures throughout history. For this chapter, Giorgio Armani, wanting to cater to a widespread need for serenity, calm and intimate quality, built his entire collection and accompanying narrative with pearls for the season. It profoundly reflects his persona with its subdued yet shimmering opulence expressed in an amalgam of white, platinum, gold and black, and by a range of precious materials such as translucent silk jacquard, deep velvet and impalpable tulle.

With this gentle and enchanting vision, the Designer took these precious and dressed women of quiet and seductive allure in sculpted jackets with powerful shoulders and flowing trousers, with wrap-around overcoats, liquid tops and skirts, or in long dresses that trace the figure and allow each trembling, delicate movement of the body to be perfectly perceived. It’s needless to say a word about the quality as it is articulated by a constant presence of embroideries and the pearls themselves, trapped on the surfaces and multiplied like dew drops on light fabrics.
