Phoebe Philo isn’t one to shy away from originality and ingenuity. Her designs always scream “elegance” in the most subtle of ways, kind of what Céline is all about; a brand that speaks for itself. For the Pre-Fall 2017 collection, Philo went for ambiguity- a sensual ambiguity nonetheless. She took bits and pieces of a woman’s everyday clothes and splashed them around her own canvas. Think floor-length kilts with earthy-toned tops. Think loose dresses over wide-legged trousers and trompe-l’oeil rompers that make pants look like they were meant to be sealed on the torso.

There was the occasional chevron pattern taming some of the numbers so boldly that it gave the collection the “pièce de resistance” factor. Some of the looks revealed a series of shirt-dresses taking over skinny pants.

Phoebe Philo is a non-conformist at heart, and her collections are always a testament to Céline’s timelessness- a fact that the fashion industry has learned to love and cherish. With overlapping styles and fabric being a huge thing, one couldn’t help but build excitement for the unique collection which will be in stores starting June 5.
