Androgyny is the new feminine, and today, Phoebe Philo proved it ever so eloquently. Models with sleeked-back hair paraded by on a wooden catwalk dressed in long-sleeved loose robes at times and well-tailored tuxedos at other times, all of which were sharpened with shiny leather boots. It was a “woman-on-the-go” kind of collection, subtle enough, but with an outstanding rhythm!
There was an oldie quality to the mix, what with the oversized coats and double-breasted blazers, but none of the numbers lacked in creativity and avant-gardism. One item in particular made its way to almost every look, taking the form of a wrap, elegantly carried on by the models. And oddly enough, it did the collection perfect justice! Along came the casual thin-strapped dresses, patching together off-the-shoulder straps and long dark sleeves.
Philo’s designs had a mind of their own, enrapturing us into a little frivolous bubble, one she so arduously harnessed over the years; the Céline bubble.
