Drawing inspiration from the glory of womanhood is a notion that hasn’t been lost on designers this season. In fact, Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini used this uplifting concept to channel a romantic manifesto best portrayed as a young Liz Taylor-meets-mods gang theme.
“I've always been fascinated by the duality of women's souls: sweetness and audacity, innocence and sensuality, grace and determination. My new collection for Philosophy imagines a young Liz Taylor who meets up with the rebellious spirit of the Mods. It's my celebration of female seduction and their independence. An unexpected contrast between timeless elegance with a modernist twist.” Said the designer.
Picture form-fitting dresses cinched by belts at the waists and bustier tops worn over full skirts. Picture sheer numbers with ruffles and straight-leg cropped trousers and skirts upholstered with Swarovski crystal embroideries. The result is nothing short of a glamorous collection alluding to the rebellious woman in all of us. Whispers of a timeless elegance continue in black and white color palette, embellished with a hint of dusty rose and turquoise accents. The collection was slightly eclectic and decidedly off-the-charts, envisioned by the greatness of the designer.
