Did You Know…Why The Buttons on Your Sleeves Were Invented?

It may be hard to believe, but the buttons on your sleeves – you know, the ones you usually play with when you’re bored out of your mind- were not originally made for stylish purposes, nor for your own wellbeing for that matter. Yes guys, prepare to be mind-blown in 3,2,1…

Legend has it that during the Napoleonic battles and wars, Napoleon’s troops had the bad habit of wiping their noses on their sleeves. The French leader got so tired of this nasty habit that he decided to unwillingly contribute to the fashion scene. Believe it or not, he had buttons sewn on his soldier’s sleeves, making it that much harder for them to succumb to this reliance.

Indeed, Napoleon wasn’t just a leader to his country, he was also a leader in fashion and his good sense of wanting his soldiers to be clean changed the fashion world as we know it! He took the average garments and propelled them into the stratosphere of stylishness!

So guys, if your fancy uniforms are jolly clean, than you have Napoleon the Great to thank for that. You are officially- and fortunately- doomed to a lifetime of cleanliness!
