Bottega Veneta celebrated its 50th anniversary today with a show held in the Accademia di Belle Art di Brera. There has been much emphasis in Milan this season on Italian luxury craftsmanship and Creative Director Tomas Maier who has been with the fashion house for 15 years showcased the expertise of his artisans who reworked leathers into a striking spring/summer collection. The colour palette moved from subtle neutrals and khaki to summer brights . There was a belted hot pink leather coat-dress, a bright orange leather skirt that fell below the knee and yellow patterned knits. Shoes had a retro feel with two-tone brogues, and platform lace-ups. The show closed with not one but two icons: Gigi Hadid in pink utility leather walking arm in arm with Lauren Hutton in a timeless Bottega interpretation of the trench. Maier has mastered the fine art of quiet luxury to perfection.
