My Hermès Silk Story

Arab women are becoming a force to be reckoned within the fashion industry. To best highlight their expressive personal flair, Azyaamode has asked three It girls from the region with unrivaled personal style to show us how they wear their iconic Hermès silk scarf in our exclusive feature A Day in the Life of an Hermès Silk Scarf. Each day, a girl and her silk story will be revealed. See how each style maven fashions her silk stole in her own unique way.

A Day in the Life of Dana Malhas Ghandour and her Hermès Silk Scarf

Dana Malhas Ghandour, co-owner and buyer of trendy Saudi Arabian boutique, Cream, takes us through a day in the life of her Hermès silk scarf. A style star in her own right, Dana is known for her eclectic urban style. The Saudi-Palestinian fashion buyer has a distinct eye for one of-a-kind pieces that she handpicks from around the world. Dana’s silk story is set in Downtown Dubai where tall imposing skyscrapers and busy streets play the perfect backdrop to depict her style story.

"Since my work requires me to run around all day and be out of the office going from one meeting to another, when I have a fashion or social event in the evening I usually wear something in the morning that I can play with and mix up later to fit the occasion. For example, I would remove the Hermès silk scarf from my bag and wear it on my head to make it more of a fashion statement. The outfit immediately changes from classical and professional to trendy and stylish."

"I am someone who does not like to repeat looks often, even if no one has seen it. I like to dress up every day differently for myself. However, sometimes this is not possible so a scarf on the handbag could add a twist to the repeated look and give me that feeling that I made a "change"."

"Even though my daily style is very simple, I always like to add an element of surprise in one way or another. I do not wear something exactly the way I bought it. I like to mix and match and add my own touch to it. For example, when people buy a silk scarf, they tend to wear it on their shoulder or on their bag, I prefer to wear it as a top and be different. I always like to have something in my outfit that is unique and that not a lot of people are accustomed to seeing often."
