Did you go from dark hair to a light with highlights for summer? Chances are your eyebrow pencil can use an update too. We hate being matchy-match, so we definitely don’t think your eyebrows should be the exact same color as your hair. Contrast is always better but how light or how dark? It’s really a personal preference. Here is a guide to help you figure out what is the best color match for every hair color.
Blondes can be tricky. Personally, I love the look of blonde hair with dark brows like most models are sporting these days. If this look seems a little too bold, opt for a more traditional ashy option like the Lancôme SOURCILS GEL Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream in 01 Blond. Go a few shades darker than your hair color for the most natural look.
Redheads should go for a warmer tone with red undertones. Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Aubrun is a great option. Careful not to use something to orangey.
They say blondes have more fun but not when it comes to eyebrows. Whether you are Ash Brown or Dark Brown, Brunettes can get away with a little more experimenting. Personally, I have a few different shades of pencils depending on the season. If you are a little darker in the summertime, make sure your foundation along with your eyebrow color is updated. Always go a few shades lighter than your base color. Usually, hair tends to be a little lighter in the summer so reach for your lighter pencil. The bold lips and colors of winter will compliment a darker brow. Beware of shades called “brown” sometimes they can have red undertones and look awful on brunette brows. Yves Saint Laurent Eyebrow Pencil in #4 Ash is a safe choice.
Just like cars, black on black is the best color option. Black hair with anything warm toned on eyebrows looks so unnatural. This is the only time you should be matching your hair. Don’t use something super black like an eyeliner but a shade lower. Try out Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Granite as it has more of a greyish undertone.
