SIHH 2015 - Richard Mille Launches its First Flying Tourbillon Watch

Post-SIHH 2015, AzyaaMode sat down with Daniel Bacardit-Stamm, Richard Mille's Middle East General Manager, to discuss their growing presence in the region and the exciting launch of their new RM 19-02 Tourbillon Fleur watch.

What was the most important date / year of the brand in general, and more specifically in the Middle East?
The most important year for the brand was 2001, the year when Richard Mille officially launched his collection. The first model was the RM 001, inspired by concepts and materials associated with F1 car design and development. The RM 001 was a landmark for the brand, a vision of 21st century watchmaking, and was met with immediate and immense success. The brand progressed from there with further cutting edge and innovative developments, with the Middle East being a key market. We strengthened our regional presence in 2014 with the opening of an office in Dubai and will continue to carve the way for brand expansion.

What is the overall 2015 strategy of the brand in the region?
To continue enhancing our presence across all levels with a specific focus on the feminine collection. There will be a complete refurbishment of our boutiques in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the opening of new boutiques in Doha and Jeddah to come offering a tailor made brand experience to our friends in the Middle East. We will also continue our partnership with the Yas Marina Circuit, as racing is in our DNA.

After witnessing your remarkable new launch of the RM 19-02 Tourbillon Fleur, can you please share your own views and comments on it in relation to the Middle Eastern market?
This piece was a huge hit at SIHH and I have no doubt its success will be mirrored here in the region when pieces become available. Inspired by nature, the watch is first and foremost a technical masterpiece –Richard Mille’s first flying tourbillon – but is also a true beauty, the opening and closing of the Magnolia’s petals a true testament to watchmaking artistry.
