Fresh Food, This Is What Summer Is All About

Salads come first
- Chicken and white beans with citrus vinaigrette are ideal for summer picnics.
- Tomatoes and chicken with some crusty bread that soak up the tomato juice is a great refreshing option.
-  Grapes are one of the fruits that we crave during summer, what if we mix them with some arugula, sunflower seeds, salmon or tuna and top it all off with a sweet mustard vinaigrette?
- Nothing exudes the freshness of summer fruits more than watermelon and to make from this refreshing element a salad, all you need is some feta cheese, olives, chopped mint leaves and sweet onion, pepper, salt, lemon juice and olive oil.
- A light pasta salad can also be an option. If you are an Asian food lover, go for a mix of linguine pasta, green beans, celery, red bell pepper, green onions and fresh cilantro with a dressing of rice vinegar, low-sodium soy sauce, dark sesame oil, fresh ginger, black pepper and garlic with a pinch of sugar.

It’s time for the main dish
- Summer calls for a seafood recipe. Go for seafood paella or a grilled plate of fish, lobsters, mussels and whatever you wish for and enjoy!
- What about some grilled chicken with a fresh macaroni side salad? It’s a light and healthy meal perfect for the summer season. 
- Salmon is an all-season favorite for most of us. If you agree, you should give the seared salmon with mango salsa a try!
- We all know that summer is the perfect time for a barbecue and there is nothing better than the smoky rosemary grilled steak for a joyful gathering with friends and family.
- If you are more into vegetables, fresh zucchini with pesto with or without noodles would be the perfect dish for you!

A dessert or a fresh smoothie?
- Freshen up your day with a sweet frozen grapes and berries smoothie.
- Nothing says summer more than a cocktail of exotic fruits or a strawberry low-fat shake.
- Raspberry lemonade? Yes please! This smoothie is not only refreshing but makes you feel joyous with its vibrant color.
- We all love ice cream and summer is the perfect season to enjoy this dessert. What about a frozen stick of yogurt and blueberries, strawberries or peaches?
- Since summer is the fruit season and you might be hosting a barbecue party in your backyard, a bowl of fruit salad will suit anybody’s taste!

During the summer, we can never get enough of the abundance of fresh foods and salads everywhere! Something in this hot season makes us crave vegetables, fruits and easy-to-make recipes. Also, what better way to satisfy our summer appetites than with a fresh dish of sea food when hanging out in the garden at night with friends or a smoothie for a refreshing afternoon?

Here are some delicious ideas that you can enjoy during this time of the year – or shall we say all year long.  And guess what! All this deliciousness can be savored, guilt-free! After all, we didn’t work all winter long on our summer bodies to simply let them go for a few calorie-packed dishes here and there!
