Body language always mirrors our mood and emotions. Our posture defines how others see us and science has proven that it can also make us happier, which gives us yet another reason to watch our body language.

We realized how important it is, especially for our very first job interview, where standing tall, having a firm handshake and holding our head high helps us win trust. It sends powerful signals to you and others around you, and this is a very important point to focus on. So here are a few simple tips to help you mirror strength, confidence and happiness.

1 – Did you know that the way you walk affects your mood? Based on studies, walking cheerfully brings out happy thoughts, while walking in a depressed manner renders your mood gloomy.

2 – If you know the saying “fake it until you make it”, you must realize that even faking a smile lifts up your mood because with time, it becomes real.

3 – The famed power pose is definitely one of the things that have always made it to the top of the list, as it always brings you confidence. Raising your hands in the victory pose or putting your hands on your hips like superwoman helps.

4 – Mirror others’ energy. If the persons you’re with are in a happy mood and are adopting a relaxed posture, do the same. The instant connection you build with them will make you feel great, but don’t over-do it in order to avoid giving the impression that you are mocking them.

5 – If you are feeling nervous, uncertain or afraid, spread your limbs instead of letting your body block from receiving positive energy by crossing your arms or your legs or maybe even putting your hands in front of your face or mouth. Spreading your limbs will actually make you feel more confident and positive.
