The World’s Best NYE Spots

by Leonore Dicker

As 2014 is slowly coming to an end, everyone seems to be wondering the same thing: what to do for New Year’s Eve? Deciding where to celebrate this crucial time of year is always daunting, yet unavoidable. No need to panic though, as we’ve got your back! Whether you’d like to dance your way into 2015 or simply sit back and relax during the countdown, here’s our selection of the coolest destinations to end 2014 in style.

Seoul, South Korea
Have you always been intrigued by South Korea? Maybe NYE is the time to discover the country’s thrilling capital city. From the Homigot Sunrise Festival held on Pohand Beach –where spectacular fireworks are set to invade the sky– to an upscale night filled with trendy music and fancy encounters at the W Hotel, you are sure to find something to your liking.

Cape Town, South Africa
Believe it or not but Cape Town has become a major player when it comes to celebrating New Year’s Eve. Feeling romantic? Enjoy the fireworks from a luxury cruise. Feeling festive? Head down to the Cape Quarter where the music will be blasting. Either way, it’ll definitely be a night to remember, potentially followed by a cheeky safari the next day? Now that’s a nice way to start the year.

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Although we’d all expect the Argentinians to dance their night away, NYE is actually rather low-key in Buenos Aires and has become more of a culinary affair. We recommend this destination to couples or families who’d like to experience some delicious delights while exploring a stunning city. We especially endorse Aramburu restaurant that offers exquisite modern-Argentinian tasting menus.

Aspen, Colorado, USA
If you’d like to experience a white New Year’s Eve this year, then Aspen is a pretty fabulous choice. This very chic ski-resort, located in Colorado, is filled with fancy restaurants and swanky hotels. We particularly enjoy the Little Nell and the St Regis, which are both absolutely majestic. Expect horse sleigh rides, soothing spas, beautiful views and celebrity encounters.

Bali, Indonesia
Having been nicknamed “Paradise”, Bali makes an incredible destination to celebrate the New Year. From parades and carnivals on Kuta Beach and Puputan Badung Square to mesmerizing sunrises on Sanur Beach, Bali has got it all. You’ll come back with a tan and extreme positivity, which is exactly what you need to start the New Year.
