Book of the Week – “Peter Marino: Art Architecture”

The new House of Dior on New Bond Street in London witnessed the book signing for “Peter Marino: Art Architecture”. Published by Phaidon, the book explores Marino’s exclusive collaborations and great creations through drawings, personal stories and detailed accounts.

Responsible for the design of all Dior boutiques around the world since 1995, the famed architect’s portfolio includes his work on other luxury brand spaces, private residences and hotels worldwide. Knowing that he has commissioned contemporary artists to make site-specific works, this works highlights 37 of more than 250 commissions completed between 1986 and 2016. The book also features an extensive catalogue that sheds light on selections from more than 250 of Marino’s works in the last 30 years.

“Marino is not only the go-to architect for his design expertise in all things luxury, in both retail and residential, but he is also sought after for his commitment to placing and commissioning contemporary art in the majority of design projects,” states Gay Gassmann in her introduction of the book.

With each chapter dedicated to a creative collaboration between an artist and Marino, Brad Goldfarb has written short texts that tell the stories of the featured projects and accompany striking photographs of the artists at work, detail shots of the works and the final works.

Through this book, you are invited to access the creative world of this great architect!
