Colored gems reigned at this year’s Baselworld. So, we’ve selected some bright and elegant jewels that could be paired perfectly with eveningwear.
Alessio Boschi
Bangkok-based Italian jewelry designer Alessio Boschi’s fascination with color, unusual stones and cuts and multi-functionality prompts him to create dramatic pieces. This time, the jeweler turned to Rome and its largest baroque fountain, Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain), to create a mesmerizing collection in rare Paraiba tourmalines and diamonds.
Butani
With opulent designs and bespoke pieces it comes as no surprise that the Hong-Kong based jewelry brand Butani has a strong celeb following. With the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Katie Perry wearing the brand’s creations to red carpet events, Butani has emerged as the go-to jeweler for haute couture pieces. Butani showcased some lovely statement pieces set with colored gems.
Etho Maria
Greek jewelry brand Etho Maria is known for its award-winning pieces. Bright colors proved to spark the design team’s creativity and the outcome was yet another stellar collection titled Vibrant. Embellished with round, oval and pear-cut gemstones like sapphires, rubies and emeralds these jewels make a bold statement.
Nikos Koulis
Greek designer Nikos Koulis loves to experiment with bold materials and keenly explores diverse shapes through his arresting designs, all the while eschewing the myriad boundaries of fashion and trend. Nikos continues to reinterpret classic shapes through angular forms in his own unmistakable style, and does so in his new Eden and Yesterday Collections unveiled at Baselworld.
Sutra Jewels
Co-founded by husband-wife duo Divyanshu Navlakha and Arpita, the jewelry brand Sutra is crafted at their Mumbai atelier in India. Loyalists of the brand include Michelle Obama, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Olivia Wilde, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Adriana Lima and Mila Kunis. Wearable art from Sutra echo a delightful sophistication with a hint of avant-garde modernism, as is evident in the new designs unveiled at Baselworld.
Sybarite
British jewelry brand Sybarite’s creations are delightful and whimsical. The mother-daughter duo Margarita and Alyona draw upon their rich Russian heritage and unleash their passion for regal rings. The Waltz of the Flowers collection for Baselworld is inspired by ballet – the stunning rings feature miniature ballerinas dolled up in flower-shaped tutus.
