“Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vouitton” is the luxury brand’s newest exhibition, which is currently taking place in Kioicho, Tokyo. Its purpose? To beautifully expose Louis Vuitton’s tumultuous voyage ever since its founding members developed the brand’s charm in 1854. The location represents the brand’s first store in Japan which opened in 1978.
Evidently so, Louis Vuitton has always had a strong relationship with Japan dating back to the 19th century, where budding ties were created with renowned Japanese clients, from political leaders to contemporary artists.
The Louis Vuitton Journey, conceived by Robert Carsen, portrays the brand’s historical outlet in a series of 10 chapters, starting with the staple antique malle, moving on to objects and documents form the Vuitton archives, a selection of pieces on loan from the Palais Galliera, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris and from private collectors and ending with a section dedicated to craftsmanship. Many celebrities, such as Cate Blanchett and Chiara Ferragni, graced the opening of the exhibition with their presence.
