And the Partnership in Cultural Diversity Continues…

After 10 years of partnership, SKD director Hartwig Fischer and A. Langue & Söhne CEO Wilhelm Schmid announced at the annual press conference of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden the continuation of their cultural collaboration for 5 additional years.

Gathering the world of the traditional watchmaker and the world-renowned museum association, this partnership saw an exceptional exhibition last year. Entitled “Simple and perfect – Saxony’s path into the world of International watchmaking”, the event marked 200 years since the birth of the house’s founder, Ferdinand Adolph Lange.

Among SKD’s 14 museums, A. Lange & Söhne has close ties with the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon, which stretches back to the early days of precision watchmaking and constitutes the place where Lange discovered his enchantment in watchmaking in 1830.

“Together with the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, A. Lange & Söhne wants to revive the tradition of cultural diversity that was one of the defining characteristics of Saxony for centuries. As a watchmaker that is seen as the leading representative of Saxon precision watchmaking in over 60 countries worldwide, a cosmopolitan attitude and tolerance are some of the linchpins of our culture. That’s why I am delighted with the extension to our successful partnership,” said CEO Wilhelm Schmid to explain the importance of what partners can bring to each other in the present.
