Time to get your calendars out and save the date because on the 19th of February, the world will witness the annual Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Kite fest, conducted on the beach right next to the Desert Island Resort & Spa.

Here’s the breakdown: families from all over will enjoy a fully-charged day starting at 11:00 am, where they will get to make their own kites and fly them by the rhythms of funky music. And that’s not all, as they will also revel in quirky beach games and sausage sizzle – compliments of MH Enterprises and Spinneys Abu Dhabi. Participants will also enjoy a special climbing wall, water slides and other activities installed by the event’s sponsors “Adventure HQ”. The cherry on top? All of the activities are free of charge and visitors of the island will get to benefit from a special 25% off on all island activities, from kayaking to archery and nature drive and much more.

“We are delighted to bring this event to Abu Dhabi’s Western region calendar and welcome many new faces to Sir Bani Yas Island and well as some returning guests. Within 48 hours of the event going live on social media we had received registrations from more than 100 participants which certainly exceeded our expectations.” said Mrs. Sharon Garrett, Area Director of Marketing & Communications, Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas Abu Dhabi.

Looking forward to join the kite flying contest? Allow us to brief you on the happenings.

Starting noon, the contest will comprise three categories. The first one-the Smallest Kite- binds entries to fly on 7.5m of line and higher than the bay point. The Most Creative Kite, or the second category, consists of a competition based on theme, design, construction and creativity. The Largest Kite, and the last one, is based on the area of the sail. This category requires contestants to fly more than just a minute, with a three-attempt baseline.

For registration, email [email protected]. Once you’ve done that, just show up and have a blast!
