Held this week in Dubai, Christie’s auctions of Modern and Contemporary Art and Important Watches came to an end with a seasonal total of 10.5 million dollars and impressive sell-through rates of 89% and 98% respectively.

The auction of Modern and Contemporary Art held on October 21st witnessed 18 new auction records with a final total of 7.16 million dollars, while it was estimated to reach 6 million. These impressive digits reflect the strength of art pieces by Lebanese, Iranian and Egyptian artists, as well as the market’s sustainability and the collectors’ attraction to art works.

The Important Watches auction took place in the evening and was an integral part of Dubai Watch Week’s inaugural edition. Attracting a worldwide audience, it has set the highest total for any watch auction in the Middle East and highlighted the strong interest in modern and vintage watches from the region and abroad. Also featured in this auction were two timepieces donated by Seddiqi & Sons to benefit Dubai Cares charitable organization, Hublot Vision I and Hublot Vision II.

“The education of future generations is a key objective for both Dubai Watch Week and Seddiqi Holding, and it's encouraging that the market has responded so positively to the Hublot Vision I and Vision II watches donated by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons for the benefit of Dubai Cares,” said Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, Chief Operating Officer, Seddiqi Holding.
