Beginning this December, LOEWE FOUNDATION will hold its first exhibition at the Miami Design District Loewe store. Curated by Loewe Creative Director Jonathan Anderson, the project is based on “a constellation of images that once together represent an abstract portrait of this moment in time.” Significant work from major contemporary British artists including Paul Nash, Anthea Hamilton, Lucie Rie and Rose Wylie will be on exhibition.

Each artist was hand chosen by Anderson to relay their personal vision when exploring the extraordinary in everyday.  18th Century wood and stone granary, transported by Anderson from Spain to have installed in his store, is echoed through the differing textiles, ceramics, photography, painting and sculpture on display. Capturing the meeting point between past and present, Anderson’s creative approach at Loewe is driven by tradition and modernity and “embracing the beauty of contradiction.”

British studio potter Lucie Rie’s (1902-1995) is at the forefront at this exhibition, having been known for elevating the art of ceramics by introducing delicate lines and sophisticated functionality.  Also included alongside Rie’s decorative vases, are kitchenware created in collaboration with her former student Hans Cooper and that have a utilitarian air yet are no else impressive.

“LOEWE FOUNDATION exhibition revels in the disruptive beauty of the chance encounter.”

The exhibition will be held from December 2nd to the January 17th.
