Although you might like in winter its cozy fashion, you certainly aren’t a big fan of the dry, dull skin, chapped lips, and cracked cuticles that come with it. Therefore, updating your skincare to winter mode and providing it with the care it needs to keep glowing until spring is necessary. With this in mind, here are a few tips that will allow you to perfect your skincare routine this cold season!
- Swap your summer cleanser for a gentler one to make sure it doesn’t dry out your skin – cream or milk-based ones are ideal for those with especially dry skin. Also, make sure to wash your face with warm water as hot water makes it even drier.
- After cleansing your skin, apply a hydrating serum. Taking into consideration its lightweight, applying it right after cleansing and before applying any other product allows the skin to absorb it.
- Follow up with a moisturizer. Moisturizers, thanks to their thicker formulas, create a barrier that locks in hydration and prevent your skin from drying out.
- If your skin is very dry by nature, consider adding a face oil to your routine and winter is a great season to do so. Besides soothing your skin, it enhances the barrier created by the moisturizer and prevents the loss of hydration.
- Finish off your skincare routine with an SPF, even when staying in. In fact, UV rays penetrate your windows and should not be neglected.
- During the colder months, exfoliate less. Exfoliation can make your skin drier and to prevent that, lessen your exfoliation sessions and focus more on keeping your skin as glowing and healthy as it was during summer days.
- Your body also needs some care, as it is as prone to dehydration as your complexion. Therefore, opt for a richer moisturizer and use it in the morning and in the evening.
- During winter, your hands are the first part of your body that looks dry and to avoid that, investing in a heavily moisturizing hand cream is very important. Use it regularly during the day, especially after washing your hands and before going to bed.
- Among all these changes, we should not forget the lips. You might notice that they are getting drier by the day and chapped lips are the last thing you want to deal with. So, choose an efficient lip balm and make it your best companion!
