Not only is Erdem’s Pre-Spring 24 collection a prologue for its upcoming Spring-Summer collection, but also a tribute to Deborah, the late Duchess of Devonshire, fondly known as ‘Debo’. After getting the right permission to go on with this inspiring journey, the House had an infinite source of inspiration to create the collection while delving into the dichotomies of her daily life and ways of dressing. From pieces inspired directly by the Duchess – like the leopard print alpaca skirt, cape and stole, and a black velvet sleeveless gown, tied at the shoulders – to the particular textiles, preferred combinations of pieces that have been brought to life and reimagined, and everything in between, the collection reflects versatility at its best.
The creations are actually telling a beautiful story. Between the trench coats, brocade jackets, wool crew neck jumpers, cotton shirts, tweed skirts, voluminous dresses, cocoon coats, tulle skirts and all that the collection has to offer, elegant tailored pieces mix with others of a more practical nature, all familiar staples in the late Duchess’ wardrobe.
