For the Winter-Spring 2024 collection, Maison Alaïa took some unconventional turns. Creative Director Pieter Mulier chose to explore time, not as an abstract concept but as a material notion, so he highlighted its signs and signifiers, its reflections, all through fashion. In short, the focus was on one main idea “making time”, and this comes as no surprise, as the elastic notion of time has always had a special meaning at the house of Alaia - eschewing its conventions and restrictions, embracing its possibilities.

With a color palette where white and black are the king and queen and shades of red, pink, blue, brown and others are their followers, sheer material left remarkable traces – casting an unparalleled charm over different looks and taking the collection to new heights of uniqueness. Meanwhile, buttons played a role oddly emblematic of time, of a process: the ritual of getting dressed, of fastening oneself to a garment, symbolizing a time of change and reinvention, a promise of future revelation at their unfastening.
