Tony Ward’s couture collections always have their way of taking our breath away, and the one of Spring-Summer 2023 is no exception. The “Stardust Voyage” graced Palais de Tokyo with its presence during Paris Fashion Week through multiple looks, each showing greater savoir-faire than the other. However, the bridal look managed to take a bigger piece of our hearts with its royal aura.
Excellent nuances of gold and silver hand-embroidered stars on a majestic wedding gown closed the show. Clusters of stars scintillated around the beautiful bride embodying the story of the couture collection, while the gown appeared as if coated in stardust. A combination of Swarovski crystals, beads, and finely embroidered gold silk threads with accents of silver and greige captured the light with the different effects they created – especially the gradient one. The jeweled headpiece came as a cherry on top with its sparkling diamonds and embroidered veil with tiny drops of beads and silver sequins. As for the overskirt, its unique shape and volume were simply luxurious.
Marking the end of an era, the collection started with a reflection, a sentimental feeling, after the passing of couturier Elie Ward, Tony’s father, who founded Ward Atelier 70 years ago, and paid tribute to a couturier who now lights up the sky like a star.
