From 11 till 27 November, an air of lightness that could only be associated with petit h will take over Hermès’ boutique at the Dubai Mall. The playful dialogue between creativity, reuse of materials and sustainability will be accompanied by an abundance of know-how truthful to the House’s values.
Now under the creative direction of Godefroy de Virieu, creation takes a different turn. It doesn’t start with a preconceived idea, but rather with materials such as leather, silk, crystal and porcelain of which other métiers have no further use. Since 2010, the petit h workshop has been creating unique, hybrid objects faithful to Hermès’ ingenuity and exceptional know-how, and it’s fine time for Dubai to embrace this concept.
Staged in a space reminiscent of a souk designed by Emirati architect and designer Abdalla Almulla, the petit h objects add their fun and surprising feel. Capturing the architecture of these traditional places of conviviality and trade, walls and floors of earthy tones, and openwork ceilings that diffuse a soft light minimize the heat while welcoming visitors into a unique atmosphere, where they can browse, take their time and chat over tea. Worked according to ancestral know-how, the space echoes the essence of petit h. Further highlighting the House’s spirit is a falcon stand which combines terracotta with leather, porcelain and crystal, and an incense burner consisting of a fine terracotta dish elevated on a green and white crystal base – among other creations that honor Dubai.
