More than a collection, it’s a cultural exchange between the cosmopolitan dress codes of France and America that Matthew M. Williams presented for Spring-Summer 2023, finding inspiration in Hubert de Givenchy’s mastery in both styles. The Jardin des Plantes, where botanists have crosspollinated discoveries from around the world since the 17th century, witnessed the everyday elegance, the classic Parisian chic and the casual Los Angeles cool that the House has always been synonymous with.

Skirts and blouses joined the emblematic black dresses that were constructed with integrated asymmetrical stole panels draped from the neckline. Box jackets in tweed and boucle completed skirt suits with their Givenchy 4G logo, as their intensified shoulder and nipped waist reflected a high level of tailoring. Adding statement to this collection, the coats were constructed with zips at the front allowing them to transform into capes, and classic blazers were imbued with boned corsets.

Of course, accessories also had their share of the collection. From the laced knee-high boots, mules and ballerinas made of tech knit, tweed or exotic leathers to the pointed mules with straps featuring a new etched metal heel, and the “Voyou” everyday bag – to name a few, the Givenchy woman has it all covered.
