In an exclusive ceremony held on March 10, Richard Mille and Louvre Abu Dhabi presented the first winner of Abu Dhabi’s Art Here 2021 exhibition, Bahraini-American Abu Dhabi-based artist Nasser Alzayani. Guest of honor and member of the Richard Mille family Pharrell Williams awarded the winner with the Richard Mille Art Prize and we must say, it looked like a gem under the extraordinary installation of 320 sparkling lights that lit up the open-air dome of the Louvre.

Through this prestigious ceremony, Richard Mille strengthened the long-standing ties between the House and the art world by bringing together leading art collectors and connoisseurs in the region. For his well-deserved award, Nasser presented an artwork entitled “Watering the distant, Deserting the near, 2021”, exploring the alternative narratives of collective experience and incorporating themes of factual and fictional archeology to widen the horizon of creative expression.

This wasn’t everything this ceremony celebrated, as UAE’s 50th anniversary was in mind. Exploring the theme “Memory, Time and Territory”, the premier edition of The Richard Mille Art Prize commemorated the imminent reflection that took place at this pivotal moment within the country’s history by capturing the perspectives of the country’s natives and residents on this milestone occasion.
