On its 50th anniversary, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak unveils new facets of its contemporary approach to design. An array of new self-winding hour, minute, second and date models in 37 mm are now seeing the light, while new 38- and 41-mm self-winding chronographs will be launched throughout the year. Through all these novelties, the aesthetic codes of the original Royal Oak designed by Gérald Genta are retained, as evolution is slightly expressed through the case, bracelet and dial design.

On the case, the subtle changes enhance the timepiece’s ergonomics, as it’s given a slender aesthetic through the enlarged bevels located on its top and bottom – enhancing the play of light between the satin-finished and polished surfaces. As for the dial, the size of the recognizable Royal Oak hour markers was harmonized and the logo reworked, while the minute track – which was previously printed on the flat external zone – now finds its new place on the tapisserie of all the new Royal Oak self-winding hour, minute, second and date models.

Pushing the limits even further not only in terms of design but also in terms of mastery, Audemars Piguet’s continuous improvement approach brings to light new calibres, with most of the new models being equipped with the dedicated Royal Oak “50-years” oscillating weight. Made of 22-carat gold and featuring the “50-years” logo and the engraved Audemars Piguet signature, it is matched to the color of each case for this occasion – making the celebration even more special.
