Inspirational Piaget Design Competition 2021

Inspiring the stars of the future, Piaget continues its journey to highlight the importance of craftsmanship, sustainability and supporting local talent.

Inspiring the stars of the future, Piaget continues its journey to highlight the importance of craftsmanship, sustainability and supporting local talent. For this year’s Piaget Design Competition, the House collaborated not only with HEAD – Genève (Geneva University of Art and Design) as it has been doing for the last 9 years, but with Turquoise Mountain and Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) as well to support and invest in the artisanal talent of Saudi Arabia’s next generation of creatives.

The challenge comprised 12 students that were chosen from Madrasat Addeera in AlUla to design an inspirational piece of luxury inspired by the rich history and beautiful nature of the city. In fact, the goal goes beyond enriching the educational experience of the students, as this competition also supports the visibility and protection of regional craftsmanship. In the end of the assessment process, 3 winners were announced: Aysha Musa Al Shalali in first place, Ashwaq Saud in second place and Raghad Ayman Arafah in third place for their poetic sense of design, for demonstrating the skills learnt throughout the mentoring process, and for the quality of their creations that reflected the natural beauty and landscape of AlUla.
